Frequently Asked Questions

  • Minors (12 to 18 years of age) must meet the following requirements to participate;

    1) A parent/legal guardian signature is required on your waiver form;

    2) a legal adult is present for the entirety of your booking.

    Prior to participation in any axe throwing related activities, all prospective throwers are required to sign a liability wavier and participate in an axe throwing training session prior to their booking. The training session includes detailed instruction and feedback on two practice throws per participant, as well as an explanation of safety guidelines.

    These safety guidelines are to be posted, demonstrated, and adhered to by each individual thrower:

    1. No leaning on or stepping over the dividing partitions.

    2. Only 2 people in the throwing area at one time.

    3. Axes are to be thrown by the handle, and in one of two ways – 1 hand overhead, or 2 hand overhead.

    4. Throw together, retrieve together.

    5. Use two hands when removing axe from target and when carrying.

    6. If a target is overthrown, inform a coach who will retrieve the axe on your behalf.

    7. Axes must stay inside the designated throwing area.

    8. Food and drink are to be kept outside of the throwing lanes.

  • We are not licensed to sell alcohol nor is alcohol allowed on site.

  • 1 adult/1 hour: $21.95 + tax per person

    1 child/1 hour: $16.95 + tax per person (Children 12-16)

    Throwers aged 18 and below require a parent/guardian signature to participate & a legal adult present for entirety of booking

  • We are open Weekends: Friday to Sunday, 1 PM - 7 PM

    While walk-ins are encouraged, guarantee your spot by booking ahead.

  • Closed toe shoes are mandatory. No sandals or flip-flops allowed.

    Otherwise, comfortable and loose fitting clothing is recommended.

    Shade on site is limited at this time, please come prepared to be outside for the duration of your booking. This may include sunscreen, bug spray, and weather appropriate clothing.

  • Yes we are! You are welcome to bring your pet along with you to your booking.

    However, pets are required to remain leashed at ALL times. As well, please come prepared to clean up after your pet.

  • A typical booking lasts for 1 hour. To get the most out of your time, we ask that you please arrive no later than 15 minutes PRIOR to your scheduled time.* This allows for check-in time and instruction to ensure your booking starts on time.

    Once your group is paid in full and all waivers have been signed, your session will start with instruction and feedback on two practice throws per participant, as well as an explanation of safety expectations.

    *If you do not arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled booking, you are not guaranteed to throw for the entire hour.

  • We ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice ahead of your scheduled booking if you need to cancel or reschedule.

    If your group size increases or decreases significantly, we ask that you please let us know so we can adjust accordingly.

  • We throw rain or shine! Cape Breton weather is unpredictable so come prepared for all types of weather. You will be outside for an hour with limited to NO cover.

    If there is undesirable weather in the forecast and you would like to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice ahead of your scheduled booking.

  • No, booking ahead is not required, but encouraged! We do accept walk-ins, subject to availability .

    Joining us before/after Egypt Falls? Because bookings are limited, stop in and check availability first. Better yet, book ahead to guarantee your spot!

  • Booking can be done by clicking "Book Now" at the top of the page. This will send us an email. Please include the number of participants and desired time of booking.

    *Booking times are not guaranteed until confirmed with Mt. Borden Axe Throwing.

  • Yes! At Mt. Borden Axe Throwing we accept and encourage walk-ins.

    We are conveniently located an axe throw away from Egypt Falls, so stop in between chasing waterfalls.

  • There is no minimum number of participants required to book, come on your own or with a group!

    However, the recommended group size per lane is minimum 2 and max 8.

    Email info@mtbordenaxethrowing.com for bookings longer than 1hr and groups larger than 8.

  • Unfortunately, at the moment there are no washrooms available on site.

  • Yes! There is ample parking available for vehicles of all sizes.

    *Please note that our primary parking lot is a grass field, oversized vehicles should exercise caution, especially after rainfall. Additional parking is available along Mt. Borden Rd.

  • Yes! All required equipment is provided with your booking.

  • Yes! Included in your booking is detailed instruction and feedback on two practice throws per participant, as well as an explanation of safety expectations.

    Staff will remain on hand to ensure safety, as well as to provide tips and tricks throughout your booking. Our goal is to have everyone stick an axe before leaving!

  • It is completely safe and we are very strict in making sure that everyone is throwing the axe in a safe manner. Mt. Borden Axe Throwing reserves the right to discontinue axe throwing privileges to anyone, at any time for any reason if they deem necessary without refund.

  • Throwers are required to use the axes provided by Mt. Borden Axe Throwing.

    Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
